We’re committed to creating a safe and reliable experience that works for everyone in our community. This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) shares the guidelines we’ve developed together to help all Users get the most from our Services. These guidelines support us in maintaining our network’s integrity and fostering a positive online environment where everyone can thrive.
1. General Principles
We’re here to help all Users get the most from Beanfield Services through responsible use. Together, this means:
Using services for their intended personal purposes
Respecting the rights and privacy of others
Maintaining the integrity of our networks
Complying with all applicable laws
Treating Beanfield employees, agents, suppliers, and representatives with respect; harassing or abusive language or actions, whether verbal, written or otherwise, is strictly prohibited
2. Prohibited Activities
2.1 Legal Compliance
To maintain a safe environment for everyone, we ask that Users use the Services for lawful purposes only. The following activities can harm our network or other Users, so we’ve outlined them to help keep everyone’s experience positive:
Transmitting, distributing, or storing material that violates any applicable law
Using material protected by copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights without proper authorization, including rebroadcasting, retransmitting, distributing, selling or performing any content Users subscribe to through TV Services, or holding group viewings of any such content where a licence prohibits it.
Distributing obscene, defamatory, or threatening content
Violating export control laws
2.2 Network and System Security
Users must not violate system or network security, which may result in criminal and civil liability. Prohibited activities include:
Unauthorized access to data, systems, or networks
Attempting to probe, scan, or test network vulnerability
Breaching security or authentication measures
Interfering with service to any user, host, or network
Deliberate attempts to overload systems
Forging any TCP-IP packet header or header information
Users are responsible for the security of any device connected to Beanfield Services. This includes taking reasonable steps to secure devices against unauthorized access, malware, and other security threats.
2.3 Email and Communications
Users must not:
Send unsolicited bulk messages (spam)
Use services in a way that results in being listed on spam abuse lists
Use another site's mail server to relay mail without express permission
Send messages that disrupt another internet user's equipment
Engage in mail bombing or flooding
2.4 Privacy and Personal Information
Users must not:
Publish or disseminate information that constitutes slander, libel, or defamation
Publicize personal information or likeness of a person without their consent
Invade another person's privacy or collect personal data about others
Harass or intimidate others
2.5 Bandwidth and Resource Usage
Users must not:
Use Services in a way that unreasonably restricts or inhibits others' use
Create an unusually large burden on our networks
Resell, share, or redistribute services without Beanfield's express consent
Operate servers (mail, web, FTP, Internet relay chat, etc.) without specific authorization
3. Network Management
Beanfield reserves the right to manage its networks to ensure efficient operation and performance, including:
Allocating bandwidth
Implementing network-level security measures
Maintaining network security infrastructure
Taking measures to protect network integrity
4. Consequences of Violations
If a User violates this AUP, Beanfield may, without notice, take the following actions to maintain the integrity and security of its network and services:
Suspend, restrict, or terminate Services
Take appropriate technical measures
Take any other action deemed appropriate
Beanfield may without notice, suspend or restrict all or part of the Service until further notice to the Customer if Beanfield has grounds to believe that the Customer or a User is a threat to the overall integrity of the Beanfield network or any of Beanfield's Users, or if the Customer or a User is on the receiving end of a Denial of Service Attack or a Distributed Denial of Service Attack.
Beanfield may, without notice, suspend or restrict all or part of the Service if Beanfield detects that a User's system has been compromised and is being used to perform illegal activities or activities that violate this AUP, regardless of whether the User is aware of or has authorized such activities.
Indirect or attempted violations, and violations by third parties on behalf of a User, will be considered violations by the Customer.
5. Reporting Violations
Complaints regarding email abuse, spam, illegal use, or security issues should be sent to abuse@beanfield.com.
